Midwife faulted in birth injury case

A Maine midwife lost her second large medical malpractice verdict recently when a jury awarded $3 million for a girl who was born severely mentally retarded as a result of a botched delivery. The girl, Hannah Tilton, who is now 10 years old, is confined to a wheelchair, must use a feeding tube and is blind and unable to speak. The birth injury occurred at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
